The Royal Opera House aims to enrich people’s lives through magnificent performances that will be remembered for a lifetime. Due to the sheer scale of the Swan Lake production, and the grand stage area in this world famous venue, a bespoke backdrop was required.
The material for such a backdrop had to fit within a very strict criteria. Firstly, it had to complement the natural stage lighting without causing a glare for the audience and performers. It was also extremely important to ensure that the backdrop didn’t detract from the performance.
There was also the issue of creating the best harmonics for the orchestra and, thanks to its noise dampening qualities, rischeBARRISOL stretch material was the perfect option. Seven welded sheets were required to cover the 10.5m x 6m area, which worked due to the seamless-effect finish when joining rischeBARRISOL material together.
The rischegroup team had just one day to complete the installation, which they successfully managed in time for the debut press night performance, attended by journalists from across the country.
The team at the Royal Opera House was so impressed with the work carried out by rischegroup that they ordered a second backdrop at a later date, which we also successfully installed to provide the backdrop for another stunning performance.
