The Alchemist has become a distinctive cocktail and restaurant chain within the industry, renowned for its theatrical approach to mixology and beautifully designed spaces. So, when rischegroup were approached to complete the fit-out for the company’s original venue, we were tasked with the challenge of preparing the establishment for its launch and bringing the company’s ethos to life. With this in mind, we were excited to create a stand-out space which reflected the exclusive nature of Spinningfields.
When we began fit-out work at The Alchemist, the unit was nothing but a breezeblock shell; the project involved dry-lining all of the walls, building a new mezzanine floor, installing solid oak flooring and creating a unique feature ceiling, along with all decorative, furnishing and signage requirements.
Although most renowned for its creative cocktails, The Alchemist is also a popular venue for breakfast, coffee and lunch; as an all-day haven, the fit-out design had to help the establishment seamlessly transition from day-to-night, while remaining appealing to each of these customers. This saw us develop a distinctive lighting system and a variety of different seating styles, including an outdoor terraced seating area. And, as the hub of any bar tends to be the bar itself, we created a bespoke design which became the focal point of the venue.
Our challenge was to complete all work in time for the venue’s grand Christmas opening, condensing what was originally a 12-week contract into just eight weeks.
