At the heart of this experience is design, and when it comes to creating captivating and innovative retail spaces, Japanese designers are pioneering state-of-the-art fit-outs.

So how exactly do Japanese designers distinguish themselves from the rest of the world? While many retailers will attempt to squeeze as many products as they can into their store, minimalism is favoured in Japan.

Although this approach may seem counter-intuitive, the minimal and contemporary detailing of a store allows retailers to best showcase a particular product. Japanese designers also utilise space in creative ways, developing a number of imaginative space-saving techniques.
